The Jockey Club, the largest commercial group in British racing, which stages such events as the Crabbie’s Grand National, The Cheltenham Festival and The Investec Derby, today responded to the news
from the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) of the 54th Levy Scheme being agreed several weeks before the midnight 31st October deadline.
Simon Bazalgette, Group Chief Executive of The Jockey Club
“This early agreement comes on the back of improved relationships between racing and betting in recent years and the longer-term thinking that went into the multi-year commercial agreements with Betfair and the Big Four bookmakers. It is important this constructive approach continues through the ongoing consultation on the reform or replacement of the Levy to help to achieve a mutually-beneficial and sustainable outcome for both industries.”
