Jockey Club Racecourses (JCR), the largest racecourse group in the UK by courses, fixtures, attendances, prize
money contributions and revenues, and Betfair, the world’s largest betting community, today announced the 2012 schedule of Betfair Jumps Series Qualifiers (please see below), which lead to two £50,000 ‘finals’ – a 2m6f Open Handicap Chase and a 2m4f Open Handicap Hurdle – on Easter Saturday at Haydock Park.

The new schedule of races confirmed for 2012 offers 22 further opportunities to qualify for the finals, building on the 14 Betfair Jumps Series races staged since its launch in November 2011. A horse simply needs to run in one of the
Betfair Chase Series Qualifiers to become eligible for the Chase Final or in a Betfair Hurdle Series Qualifier for the Hurdle Final. Qualifying races are annotated as 'Betfair Chase/Hurdle Series Qualifiers' after the race title.

The Betfair Jumps Series is exclusively run on JCR tracks, and is part of a £250,000 voluntary contribution from Betfair to support prize money in grassroots racing via JCR’s 14 courses. This follows Betfair making the same investment into grassroots racing via JCR the previous year. Similar options to the Betfair Jumps Series are being
explored on the Flat, for which details will be announced once finalised.

Paul Fisher, Group Managing Director, Jockey Club Racecourses, said:

“The Betfair Jumps Series offers a great incentive to the foundation levels of our sport. We’d like to thank those owners and trainers with horses qualified for the Finals for their support. I hope the extensive schedule of qualifying races for 2012 provides the right opportunities for more horses to make those inaugural Finals and have a shot at the large prizes on offer.”

Betfair executive, Martin Cruddace, commented:

“Betfair is pleased to be supporting initiatives such at these as part of our three-year, £3m commitment to grassroots British racing, and we are looking forward to the Finals day at Haydock Park in April.”
