Klaus Jacobs appointed an Honorary Member of The Jockey Club

Klaus J Jacobs, 71, was elected as an Honorary Member of The Jockey Club at its Spring Meeting.

Klaus Jacobs is the Founder and Chairman of Newsells Park Stud. The stud farm, based near Royston, Hertfordshire, has approximately 90 broodmares. Recent stakes winners and performers bred at Newsells Park include Best Name, Kings Quay, Linas Selection, Majounes Song, Maroussies Wings and Soapy Danger.

He has an interest in over 30 horses in training which run in his wife’s name. Notable horses to have carried the colours of Mrs Renata Jacobs in recent years include Prix de l'Opera winner Kinnaird, and Derby Italiano winner Osorio.

A one time member of the Swiss National dressage team, he was formerly Chairman of Jacobs Suchard Ltd., Barry Callebaut and Adecco and founder of Jacobs Holdings AG. He is Honorary Chairman of the Jacobs Foundation which he established in 1988 to enhance youth development through education. Under the ethos 'Better Education, Better Work, Better Life' the foundation operates across the globe and finances its activities entirely from the proceeds of Jacobs Holdings AG.

Through the Jacobs Foundation, Klaus Jacobs has been a significant contributor to racing. Both the British Racing School and the National Stud training arm have been grateful beneficiaries of his generosity.
