HOW TO GET TO NEWMARKET RACECOURSES

There are various coach services available so that you arrive and return from Newmarket Racecourses hassle-free. Outrider Coach Services are available on certain racedays from Cambridge, Royston, Bury St Edmunds and Ely (via Soham & Fordham). Please be aware that the Outrider Service we provide may mean that you will not be at the racecourse in time for the first race.

 

NEWMARKET SHUTTLE BUS 

A complimentary shuttle bus service on race days runs between Newmarket town centre (outside Unico Restaurant), Newmarket Train Station and the Racecourse (Rowley Mile and/or July Course). The journey commences 2 hours before the first race and stops at the first race. The return journeys from the Racecourse commence around 45 minutes before the last race and continue for up to 2 hours. The bus will drop off at the train station and at the bus stop on The Avenue (just off the high street) near Rose & Mango Restaurant. 

At the Racecourse, the shuttle bus service will drop off and collect outside the Grandstand and Paddock Entrance at The Rowley Mile and from the middle of the White car park, outside Premier Entrance 1 at the July Course.

Please note: Our free shuttle bus service does get extremely busy on our festival meetings and Newmarket Nights,

Shuttle Bus Price: COMPLIMENTARY, this service does not need to be pre-booked.

 

OUTRIDER COACH SERVICE AVAILABILITY / HOW TO BOOK 

All Outrider Coach Services cost £13 return for 2024.

 

Pre-bookings for the Outrider Buses is highly recommended as they do sell out quickly. Pre-bookings go off sale 48 hours before the race meeting and are subject to availability.

 

The Outrider service will be running for the following racedays:

  • QIPCO Guineas Festival - 4 & 5 May
  • All Newmarket Nights
  • The July Festival - 11 & 13 July

FROM CAMBRIDGE TRAIN STATION

This service is available on the days below and picks up at Cambridge Train station and then returns to Cambridge Train Station. Turn left out of the station – coach will have Newmarket Racecourses displayed in the front window of the bus.

Cambridge Outrider Price: Pre-order - £13 return

 *If the event is a festival the Outrider returns to Cambridge half an hour after the last race. For a Newmarket Night it returns to Cambridge 30 minutes after the concert finishes.

 

FROM ROYSTON TRAIN STATION

This service is available on the days below and picks up at Royston Train station and then returns to Royston Train Station. The coach will have Newmarket Racecourses displayed in the front window of the bus.

Royston Outrider Price: Pre-order - £13 return

*If the event is a festival event the bus returns to Royston half an hour after the last race. For a Newmarket Night it returns to Royston 30 minutes after the concert finishes.


FROM BURY ST EDMUNDS – BUS STATION

This service is available on the days below and picks up at Bury Bus Station and then returns to Bury Bus Station. Head to Bay 9 at the Bus Station and the coach will have Newmarket Racecourses displayed in the front window of the bus.

* If the event is a festival the Outrider returns to Bury St Edmunds half an hour after the last race. For a Newmarket Night it returns to Bury St Edmunds 30 minutes after the concert finishes.


FROM ELY (VIA SOHAM & FORDHAM)

This service is available on the days below and picks up at Ely Hereward Pub and then returns to Ely.

This bus also picks up at Soham and Fordham. It starts on Market Street in Ely, outside the Herewood pub and then stops outside the Red Lion pub in Soham and then Murfits Lane in Fordham. The coach will have Newmarket Racecourses displayed in the front window of the bus.

TRAIN SERVICES 


Newmarket Railway Station is just a few miles away from Newmarket Racecourses however it is advised that you use our free shuttle bus service, which picks up from outside the train station and the high street.

 

Cambridge Railway Station is located 14 miles away with connections to London. We advise you use our Outrider bus service to get to the racecourse. This service also operates from Royston Train Station, Bury St Edmunds and Ely.

NEWMARKET NIGHTS/SUMMER SATURDAY LIVE

At the end of the concert, no pickups are permitted outside the main gates, from the roundabout, or attempt to access the racecourse via Gate 4 off the Cambridge Road. The meeting point for all pickups, including Private Hire, is located via gate 2 in the White car park outside Premier Entrance 1. We recommend that you ask your taxi driver to park up and meet you outside Premier Entrance 1 in person. This saves a lot of time struggling to find each other! Please allow up to two hours to exit during our festivals and Newmarket Nights. 

 

EV Charging Points

We currently have no EV charging capability onsite. The nearest charge point to the Racecourse is located at the BP Fuel Station on Bury Road (CB8 7BP).
