Flood damage means Boxing Day racing is cancelled

Article 23rd December 2019 Huntingdon

23rd December 2019 – The floods at the weekend at Huntingdon Racecourse have led to the planned Boxing Day meeting being called off.

While significant progress has been made in the last 48 hours, flood damage to the stables, weighing room and public areas mean that the site will not be ready in time.

Liam Johnson, General Manager, Huntingdon Racecourse, said:

“The cancellation is due to the damage to areas such as the weighing room and stable yard. It would prove impossible to get everything ready for racing, even though most of the flood water has receded from the track.

“We’re very disappointed for all our racegoers who always enjoy their Boxing Day at the races. A full refund of pre-purchased tickets can be obtained by contacting the racecourse.”
