It was terrific to see horses who have performed well here at Huntingdon in recent months doing so well at the Cheltenham Festival, providing further evidence that our racecourse is well thought of by connections of top-level horses.
Among those horses is Chambard, who ran out a comfortable winner of the £25 Matched First Bet At tote.co.uk Novices' Limited Handicap Chase at Huntingdon on 6th March before going on to land the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup for Venetia Williams and amateur jockey Lucy Turner.
Pink Legend, the winner of our Listed Lady Protectress Mares' Chase in January was narrowly denied in the Grade Two Mares' Chase at the Festival and December's Peterborough Chase runner-up Funambule Sivola ran a gallant race to finish second in a superb running of the Grade One Queen Mother Champion Chase. These results are important in ensuring that Huntingdon's race programme continues to be well supported in future years.
Our £30,000 Listed Urban Logistics Reit Sidney Banks Memorial Novices' Hurdle on 10th February proved to be an eventful race, with favourite Wonderwall crashing out at the final flight and bringing down Harbour Lake. It may not have affected the final result however, as the first two home had looked in control at that point and Dan Skelton's Elle Est Belle galloped on very strongly to take the spoils close home. Elle Est Belle looks to be a decent mare and is well worth keeping an eye on for the remainder of the season and beyond.
We are now greatly looking forward to our annual Easter Monday Family Extravaganza Raceday on 18th April. This fixture is always great fun and we have some excellent entertainment lined up off the track, for all the family to enjoy.
Don’t forget that our usual Spring Bank Holiday Monday fixture at the end of May has been moved for this year only to the Bank Holiday on Friday 3rd June to coincide with the celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Your Annual Badge package includes free entry to the following racecourses on these specific days upon presentation of your 2021 Huntingdon Metal Badge.
Reciprocals are correct at the time of print to the best of our knowledge: they are subject to change and further dates will be confirmed at a later date as some racecourses are still reviewing their own annual membership packages. Please check the website for updates or call the Huntingdon Office on 01480 453373.
Please also contact the individual racecourse prior to your visit regarding parking, areas you may access, use of private boxes, restaurant offers and reservations etc.
