CONDITIONS AT HUNTINGDON

The racing surface at Huntingdon has done extremely well in the down period since March thanks to our ground staff, who have continued to work incredibly hard to keep it in the best possible condition.

In early August we carried out a drainage programme on the home straight, a process which took ten days to complete. This saw the entire area sand-injected to renew the connection between the topsoil and drainage system below. The team have also undertaken the annual rebuild of the fences, which is carried out every summer to ensure our fences are in the best possible condition and comply with all BHA regulations.

Since the start of September, we have started to prepare the track for racing. This process includes increasing our level of irrigation, with 80mm of water having been applied to the racing surface each week, while all running rails have been repositioned onto the inner racing line and cleaned.

We are really excited for the return of racing and look forward to season ahead.
