The Hill


THE THRILL OF THE HILL

The Derby Festival is one of the world’s only sporting events where you can watch the action for FREE! The Hill is the beating heart of The Derby Festival where we invite everyone to join in and experience the unique carnival atmosphere. The fun runs all day with food & drink, big screens, a market and funfair. Track-side viewing, the Tote, book makers and racecards are all easily accessible too. The Derby Family Festival

The Derby Family Festival is a ticketed area of The Hill. In a new location for 2023, closer to the action on the racetrack, there will be plenty of family fun to keep everyone entertained! Gate open at 11am each day.

• Bright and colourful family friendly haven on The Hill Fun packed live entertainment programme on the Main Stage

• Never miss a moment of the entertainment and racing action on the big screens

• Head to the Activity Zones for a choice of free activities and rides including inflatable maze and slide, assault course, bungee run, helter skelter, carousel, circus skills, face painters and bungee trampolines

• Visit the Racing Showcase to test your jockey skills on the equicisers or inflatable Derby Hoppers, meet a retired racehorse up close and let the little ones enjoy a hand-led pony ride

• Food Villlage - NEW FOR 2023

• Choose from a wide range of food and drink stalls
• Easily place a bet with the Tote or bookmakers
• Wet weather and shade cover available including a dedicated picnic area
• Toilet facilities, including baby changing

BBQS
BBQs are back! Only for Derby weekend, bring your own BBQ and enjoy a great day out on The Hill.

• BBQs are permitted to be used in the designated area on The Hill
• Look out for the flags which mark the area or please ask one of our event staff for guidance.
• BBQs must be raised from the ground. Disposable ones are not permitted.
• Please use the BBQ bins provided for the safe disposal of hot ash
• Free pedestrian access.

The Derby Village

Head to The Derby Village, a newly invigorated area for 2023 on the Tattenham Corner side of The Hill. Watch the horses as they make the famous turn down the Hill at Tattenham Corner, a pivotal point in The Betfred Derby and enjoy an incredible day out.

• Wet weather and shade cover
• Bring your own seat, gazebo and picnic and make an area of The Hill your own for the day
• Toilets, bars and concessions are available.
• Easily place a bet with bookmakers or the Tote.
• Free pedestrian access

Bookies Square

Head to Bookies Square for a thrilling day out at The Derby Festival! See the horses as they thunder home up the finishing straight.

• Plenty of bookmakers and The Tote to place a bet
• Watch the action on the big screen
• Bars, food concessions and toilets are available
• Free pedestrian access

The Fun Fair

Dare devils and thrill seekers head to the Fun Fair on The Hill!
• Open from 11am – 7pm for the two days of The Derby Festival
• Tokens will be available to buy from the Fun Fair operators.
• Free pedestrian access

The Market

The Market is a traditional part of The Derby Festival. You’ll be amazed at what you can find in the Market from clothes to homeware and one-off pieces, a visit to The Market is not to be missed.

• New location for 2023
• Food concessions and toilets are available
• Free pedestrian access

Parking on The Hill

• Parking is available to pre-purchase until Wednesday 24 May.
• Available from £10.

Coaches

• All aboard for a day out to remember at The Derby Festival! Book your coach or bus space on The Hill today.
