80's Day returns
Get your dancing shoes on as 80's Day returns to Kempton Park Racecourse on Saturday 4 September. Join us for an afternoon of quality horseracing and an unmissable after-party with 80's icon Martin Kemp.
As we head into the final few weeks of the Flat racing season, all eyes turn to Kempton Park for the Group Three September Stakes, which has a habit of providing pointers for one of the sport’s most prestigious contests of them all.
Run over a distance of a mile and a half, the September Stakes has always been a leading prize in its own right, but in recent years has been used to prepare contenders for the following month’s Group One Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in Paris.
It was a path used successfully by the wonder mare Enable, who completed the double in 2018, while Group One scorers Jack Hobbs (2015) and Prince Bishop (2013 and 2014) have also used Kempton Park to good effect in the past decade.
The seven-race card is a quality one and also includes the Group Three Sirenia Stakes for two year olds over six furlongs. It can pay to keep an eye on this race with some of the big juvenile races at Newmarket in mind, with Hooray (2010) and The Last Lion (2016) going on to win the Cheveley Park Stakes and the Middle Park Stakes respectively later in the season.
Meanwhile, the gripping and ultra-competitive “London Mile” Series comes to a finale with the valuable Series Final taking place, ensuring this raceday is one not to be missed.
