Kempton Park

Saturday 20 March

a saturday of jump action

The dust will have barely settled in the Cotswolds after the Cheltenham Festival when Kempton Park hosts the Virgin Bet Silver Cups Day.

Just 24 hours after the WellChild Cheltenham Gold Cup the Surrey racecourse stages the Virgin Bet Silver Bowl Handicap Chase and Virgin Bet Silver Plate Handicap Hurdle, a fantastic opportunity for horses which failed to make their Festival targets.

In 2016 Might Bite claimed the Silver Plate before going on to reach even greater Grade One heights over fences.

And while the Virgin Bet Maiden National Hunt Flat Race might not be one that immediately jumps out of the page, it can be the launch pad to great things, as illustrated by 2019 winner Shishkin, who struck gold in last year’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham.

The two feature races are also ably supported by the Virgin Bet Handicap Chase and the Virgin Bet Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase on the seven race card.
