Historian of Aintree Racecourse, Jane Clarke, first attended the Grand National back in 1973 and for years has helped share Aintree's history, from hosting tours to collecting memorabilia and archived items to exhibit on site and even polishing up the Grand National trophies. What Jane doesn’t know about Aintree is not worth knowing!

We have over 2,000 original artefacts on display as well as superb locations to show you across the racecourse including the legendary Red Rum's grave and life size statue, all steeped in history. You don’t even need to be a racing enthusiast to enjoy a tour as Jane’s passion is infectious and there are so many unique behind-the-scenes human stories to be told.

If you are travelling by car, please head to Ormskirk Rd, Aintree, Liverpool L9 5AS, free parking is available on-site. Our nearest train station is Aintree, this is a 5 minute walk to the racecourse. On arrival please make our way to the Princess Royal stand where our historian, Jane Clarke will meet you and check you in before the tour starts.

'I bought tickets for my mother and members of the family to attend the tour of Aintree led by Jane Clarke. This proved to be one of the most memorable days of our lives. We have attended the Grand National on several occasions and we adored Red Rum, my mother having met him several times. Ms Clarke's tour of Aintree was simply magical and the opportunity to visit his grave and say thank you for the joy he gave us meant more than we can say.'
