Welcoming the new Molyneux Hurdle

Formally known as the Elite Hurdle and as part of the revised programme, Aintree's November meeting will now feature the Grade 2 Molyneux Hurdle, which moves from Wincanton following recommendations from the Jump Pattern Committee.
The race becomes the feature contest on Saturday 7th November, adding a prestigious Grade 2 feature to Aintree's autumn programme.
Where does the name Molyneux come from?
Drawing William Philip Molyneux, 2nd Earl of Sefton (1772–1838), owned the land on which Aintree Racecourse was established. He leased the site for its development in 1829, laid the foundation stone of the first grandstand, and served as an early patron, helping establish the future home of the Grand National.
