Tickets and hospitality selling fast for The Crabbie’s Grand National Festival

Article 15th January 2016 Aintree

With less than three months to go until the 2016 Crabbie’s Grand National Festival, Aintree Racecourse can announce that tickets and hospitality are selling at a considerably faster rate than the same time last year, for all three days of the Festival.

Grand Opening Day, Thursday 7th April, is 37% ahead on ticket sales compared to this time last year; Ladies Day, Friday 8th April, is 43% ahead; and Grand National Day is 26% up on this time last year with only Tattersalls and Steeplechase tickets left for racegoers to watch the world’s greatest steeplechase live at Aintree on Saturday 9th April.

Queen Mother Stand seats are sold out on Grand Opening Day with Earl of Derby seats and Platinum Lounge in the Lord Daresbury Stand very close to being completely sold out. There’s still availability in all other areas but it’s best to book in advance to avoid disappointment on the day.

Ladies Day is currently selling quicker than any other day with Earl of Derby Stand Lower seats, Queen Mother Stand seats and Platinum Lounge all sold out. Other areas are available but selling quickly.

On Grand National Day, all Grandstand and Grandstand enclosures tickets have been sold with some hospitality available. Tattersalls tickets are selling 48% ahead of this time last year but there’s still availability - to ensure tickets racegoers should book in advance. Limited Steeplechase tickets still remain through Aintree’s online Official Ticket Marketplace, Viagogo (www.viagogo.co.uk) for Saturday 9th April.

As previously announced, Aintree has reduced the capacity for the Tattersalls enclosure on Grand National Day to enhance customer experience and comfort for spectators, meaning demand for the final remaining tickets is even higher.

Also, Crabbie’s Grand National hospitality sales are selling 10% ahead of the same time last year but there are plenty of places still available.

New hospitality for 2016 includes the ‘Hall of Fame’ restaurant, which is located within Aintree’s Hospitality Pavilion (formerly known as Amberleigh House). An informal experience that includes a ‘round the world’ dining experience, a self-service bar and informal relax seating areas. Prices from just £199 plus VAT per person and can be purchased at thecrabbiesgrandnational.co.uk or by calling 0151 522 2911.

This is positive news for Aintree Racecourse and this announcement shows the demand and the return of the feel good factor for the greatest horserace in the world.

John Baker, Aintree and North West Regional Director for Jockey Club Racecourses said:

“The Grand National is in a fantastic place and this can be seen by the way racegoers have flocked to buy tickets for this year’s Crabbie’s Grand National Festival.

“We are delighted with the sales on all three days, especially Ladies Day, as we’ve invested a lot of time into trying to ensure we give customers an enhanced experience.

“We’re all excited about the Festival and are working extremely hard to provide racegoers with the best possible experience over the three days. It’s not just about selling tickets we want racegoers to really enjoy their time here at Aintree.

“As ever, the Grand National throws up its own story - can Leighton Aspell make it three wins in three consecutive years and can Many Clouds emulate the great Red Rum by winning the Grand National in two consecutive years?

“I’m sure our Crabbie’s Grand National Racemakers will provide a top class welcome to racegoers over the three days. We’ve also listened to our customers from previous years and made some exciting new upgrades across the racecourse as well as providing some enhanced hospitality packages, which we hope will ensure an outstanding experience for our customers.”

Last year’s Festival was attended by more than 152,000 people across the three days, with a record crowd of 34,752 on Grand Opening Day; an increased attendance on Ladies Day of 45,078, which was up 2,544 from the 2014 Crabbie’s Grand National; with Grand National Day another sell-out crowd of 72,500 people. It was also watched by 8.9m TV viewers on Channel 4, Aintree’s Broadcast Partner.
