Volunteering is fantastic in so many ways! The Cazoo Derby 2022 is one of Britain's great national sporting events and has a large worldwide TV audience. But that’s not all … this year is a very special edition of the Derby. The Cazoo Derby 2022 forms part of the official Platinum Jubilee Weekend to celebrate the historic 70 year reign of Her Majesty The Queen.

 

You will also get the opportunity to meet new people, challenge yourself, develop new skills and valuable experience that you can add to your CV, and gain a real sense of pride in being part of the wider Derby team!

 

Each Racemaker Volunteer will also receive two complimentary adult tickets and four children’s tickets to The Cazoo Derby’s Jubilee Family Enclosure for their friends or family to enjoy on Ladies Day or Derby Day. In addition, every Racemaker Volunteer will be offered two complimentary tickets for their own personal use to one of Epsom’s Summer Nights events in 2022.

There will be approximately 100 Racemakers who will perform similar roles in making the spectator and customer experience truly memorable.  The role will involve giving directional assistance, welcoming spectators and helping to build the atmosphere to this very special Platinum Jubilee edition of The Cazoo Derby 2022. 

Volunteers will be on shift for approximately 8 hours between the hours of approximately 10.00 and 19.00 each day. You will receive breaks and refreshments will be provided. You will need to be available on both Ladies Day (Friday 3 June) and Derby Day (Saturday 4 June) approximately 10.00-19.00.  You will also need to be available for up to four hours on the day before (Thursday 2 June) from approximately 14.00-18.00 when you will have the opportunity to meet the rest of the team and complete your final on-site training (site orientation).

Yes, you will be provided with a volunteer uniform and an accreditation pass which you will be required to wear at ALL times.  Food and refreshments will be available and any equipment required to perform your role will be provided.

 

All Racemakers will be provided with training which includes a combination of online training in May 2022, face to face training and site orientation at the racecourse on Thursday 2 June 2022.

Applicants must be 18 years of age by 1 May 2022 to be able to volunteer. Applicants must also have the Right to Work and Volunteer in the UK.  You must be able to travel to Epsom Downs Racecourse through your own means, as we’re not able to provide travel expenses.

Yes we welcome applications from all parts of the community and that includes those with disabilities. We can make reasonable adaptations to volunteer roles to ensure those with accessibility requirements are able to volunteer.

 

Do let us know of any requirements you have when completing your application but we will also ask all successful applicants to let us know of any requirements when inviting them to an interview (including any special arrangements required to enable them to attend the interview itself).

 

Your requirements will then be discussed in more detail during the interview so that we can jointly develop adjustments to address them.

We will communicate with all applicants regarding the outcome of their application and progress to the next stage of the process within 3 days of us receiving your application.

Once we have reviewed your application you may be invited to the next stage of the process which will consist of a short online or face-to-face interview. Upcoming dates for Racemaker interviews are 1 and 8 April 2022. Face to face interviews will take place at Epsom Downs Racecourse but virtual (video) interviews will also be available.
