RACECOURSE COMMITTEE

SUE LUCAS

CHAIRMAN

Sue’s background has been in Further Education, working as Head Lecturer at North Lindsey College. Since leaving education & having a family, Sue has worked as secretary of the local Bloodwise charity, organising and jointly running fund raising events. Sue supports her husband who has his own business, liaising with overseas customers from USA, Hong Kong, Japan & Thailand.

Sue was born and raised in Licolnshire; she and her family of the local community. It is her in-laws, Jean & Paul Lucas, who first introduced her to horseracing. Sue is the fifth generation of the family to be involved at Market Rasen Racecourse, joining the committee in January 2016.

KATE KEY

DIRECTOR

Originally from Shropshire, Kate built her career in procurement, first working with vegetables in Cambridgeshire before moving into the flower industry in Spalding. Her role involved extensive international travel, sourcing flowers from countries around the world and developing strong commercial and supplier relationships. Now settled in Lincolnshire, she joined her husband on the family farm. Both share a passion for horse racing, with her husband bringing valuable bloodstock experience and having had a number of horses in training, adding further insight and enthusiasm to her role on the committee.

BRIDGET DUDGEON (BIDDY)

DIRECTOR

Biddy is a Chartered Surveyor and practiced as a Land Agent for 20 years before her mid-life crisis, when she took up embroidery! Biddy runs her own web-based business from home, called Monogrammed Presents.

Biddy has followed and been involved in National Hunt racing all her life, with her family and husband’s family. Biddy and Johnny Dudgeon are both from farming families and met at Cirencester Agricultural College in the 1980s. Johnny and Biddy have two sons and live near Grantham.

Helen Connors

DIRECTOR

Helen has been an avid member of the point-to-point scene for a number of years, initially as a jockey and trainer where she rode 15 winners and trained close to 30, most recently she has been stewarding on a regular basis. Early in her career, she spent time working for a trainer in the USA before working for Turf Newspapers. In recent times she has had her own Hunter/point-to-point livery yard.

Lucy Parry

Director

Lucy grew up in Hexham and now lives in Lincoln with her family where she works for BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

Lucy’s family have been an integral part of MR racecourse; her father-in-law, Dr Graham Parry worked at the racecourse for 35 years as doctor, mother-in-law Chris, worked as the racecourse nurse. Sadly neither are no longer with us, but remain a firm part of the racecourse’s history.
