The Cazoo Derby

This year’s Derby Day at Epsom Downs is celebrating the 243rd running of the world’s greatest Flat race. And the stage is set for an official commemoration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be joined by members of the Royal Family on a day that promises to be a fitting celebration of the Monarch’s 70 years on the throne. As a horse racing fan, owner of many thoroughbred racehorses and also The Jockey Club’s Patron, the celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Derby Day promises to be an unforgettable showcase of the lifelong relationship between two British institutions.

The Derby is the crown jewel of racing. Since 1780, it’s been the race that propels the best young horses into stardom. It’s where history is made and futures are written.

This is for the finest thoroughbreds, the people behind the horses, the most dedicated sports fans in the world. This is for those who live and breathe racing, for carnival lovers and first-timers. This is The Derby.

For nearly 250 years, The Derby has created traditions, ‘where were you when’ moments and priceless memories, it’s a date etched into the racing calendar. For race-lovers and fun-seekers, for thousands who relish in the thrill of a carnival with a difference.

While its influence over future generations of the thoroughbred cannot be overstated, to those who make the annual pilgrimage it’s an unrivalled sporting and social occasion.

Make no mistake. The Cazoo Derby, racing’s most spectacular carnival, isn’t just about one race. Two days of high quality racing feature the third Classic of the season, the Cazoo Oaks, on the Friday - The Derby Ladies Day - along with the Group One Coral Coronation Cup.

As well as the Cazoo Derby, Saturday’s card includes two Group Three contests in the Diomed Stakes and the Princess Elizabeth Stakes, while the ultra-competitive Epsom Dash Handicap over the minimum trip of five furlongs is regarded as the world’s fastest horse race.

Whether you’re in top hat and tails or carnival’s finest casual, be a part of history and join us at Epsom Downs Racecourse for the Cazoo Derby, combining the greatest Flat race of them all while celebrating a once in a lifetime royal milestone.
