The inaugural Lindsey Lodge Family Extravaganza Raceday proved to be a great success at Market Rasen on Sunday 1 August, the first stage in a fundraising partnership between the racecourse and the charity based in North Lincolnshire.
For every advance ticket purchased, £1 was donated directly to the Lindsey Lodge Hospice, helping to fund its vital work in providing specialist palliative care and wellbeing services to local people and families living with life-limiting illnesses.
Further donations were made by each race sponsor, while bucket collections and QR code donations also took place on the day raising over £2,200 overall.
The fixture proved extremely popular with racegoers, with eight races providing excitement on track and an abundance of entertainment for younger visitors, who were surprised and delighted at the life-like dinosaurs roaming the racecourse. Children were also able to embark on a Jurassic Treasure Hunt and explore Market Rasen's fun-filled Neigh and Play Garden.
Tom Moody, Lindsey Lodge Senior Manager, Income Generation and Business Development, said: "This is a significant amount of money for us – so many thanks to everyone who attended the event and those involved at Market Rasen racecourse for their amazing support!
“There really was something for everyone to enjoy on the day, and it was fantastic to see so much support for Lindsey Lodge!”
Nadia Powell, General Manager of Market Rasen racecourse, said: "We are thrilled to have been able to raise this money to help Lindsey Lodge continue its incredible work. The raceday was a huge success, especially with our younger racegoers, and there was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the afternoon.
"We are very grateful to everyone who donated and we hope we can continue to raise money for Lindsey Lodge through this year and into next as our charity partners."
