FAQ RACING PLUS MUSIC EVENTS
What sort of venue is Market Rasen Racecourse?
Market Rasen Racecourse is a leisure venue hosting 21 horseracing fixtures per year, two of which are racedays followed by live music.
During each racing plus music event, six to seven races take place followed by live music. The ticket/s you purchase will include the racing and the concert. We do not offer a concert only ticket or a racing only ticket.
As your ticket includes the horseracing and the concert, we would encourage you to watch the races in order to experience this exciting sporting event and also to help familiarise yourself with the racecourse before the concert commences.
Market Rasen Racecourse is predominantly an outdoors standing venue with no allocated seating for any events.
When sold out, Market Rasen Racecourse welcomes up to 15,000 customers per event.
What are the different enclosures at Market Rasen Racecourse?
The racecourse is made up of three enclosures during racing; County, Tattersalls & the Lawn Enclosure.
For the concert element of the event all the enclosures merge with first access to County customers, followed by Tattersalls then Lawn enclosure customers.
Concert location is within the centre of the course. This area can only be accessed for the duration of the concert, racing can be viewed from the three racecourse enclosures
County Enclosure – Offering the best views in the house of the racing action along with access to all key areas including the Winners Enclosure, Parade Ring and Pre-parade Ring, County Enclosure customers also benefit from a dedicated carpark which can be accessed directly off Willingham Road. The champagne will be flowing in the County Enclosure with a multitude of champagne, prosecco and pimms bars along with access to all other bars and eateries throughout the racecourse. The Tiger Roll Bar and Terrace is the place to be on a warm summers day where racegoers can benefit from the full bar facility as well as stacks of outdoor seating. Visit the County Food and Bar Marquee for a full bar service along with gourmet food options. When it comes to concert time, County Enclosure customers will have first access to the centre of the course where the stage is situated.
Tattersalls Enclosure – This enclosure offers good viewing of the racing action and provides access to the Parade Ring, Pre Parade Ring and Winners’ Enclosure too. There are an array internal bars and eateries to enjoy, including Red Rum Bar & Kitchen, Exacta Bar, AP’s Bar and Antonio’s. Customers will also benefit from an external food court with a multitude of different food and bar vendors. Customers with this ticket cannot gain access into the centre of the course stage area until after the racing has finished and County Enclosure customers have gained access. Please note if you hold a ticket for the Tattersalls Enclosure you will also benefit from access to the Lawn Enclosure.
Lawn Enclosure – This enclosure has views over the track and most notably the final fence. On music events the Lawn Enclosure benefits from the addition of a large screen to enjoy both the racing and the concert if you choose not to go to the centre of the course. The Lawn Enclosure offers a playground for children as well as an indoor bar and canopy area with external bars and food vendors. Picnics can be brought into this enclosure but please note glass and metal is not permitted. A limited amount of alcohol can be brought into the Lawn Enclosure, two small plastic bottles of wine per person or four cans per person. Customers with Lawn Enclosure tickets cannot gain access into the centre of the course concert area until both County and Tattersalls customers have had the opportunity to access. Dogs are not permitted into any enclosure at music events.
Please note: Once racing has finished access to the centre of the course is staggered as follows: County, Tattersalls and then Lawn Enclosure customers. This area is strictly standing only and not suitable for children as it can become very busy and lively. If you prefer a more relaxed environment customers will have the opportunity to remain in their respective enclosure, have access to the bars and facilities and watch the concert from the large screens.

Children at Racing and Music Events at Market Rasen Racecourse

We take every precaution to try and ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at all of our events. If you do decide to bring a child under 18, we would suggest against taking them into the most densely crowded areas, which includes the large area in front of the stage.
Market Rasen Racecourse have a range of family friendly events throughout the summer, including our popular Family Extravaganzas and Family orientated racedays which are held on: Sunday 16th February (Love Market Rasen Raceday) Sunday 5th July (Family Extravaganza), Sunday 2nd August (Family Extravaganza) and Boxing Day (Boxing Day at the Races).
It is your responsibility to check the suitability of an event for any children in your party regardless of official age restrictions, this includes considering the type of audience the event is likely to attract and whether such an audience is a suitable environment for children in your party. Refunds will not be issued if any aspect of an event, including the behaviour of other audience members, causes offence to you or any children on whose behalf you have purchased tickets.
We do not recommend subjecting babies and young children to loud music. Children are recommended to wear hearing protection if you decide to bring them. A concert environment is not suitable for very young children.

How do I avoid delays entering and leaving the racecourse?
As Market Rasen Racecourse is situated within a rural town, traffic to the site can be busy at peak times. It is therefore advised that racegoers arrive early to avoid being delayed and follow the yellow directional signs which will aid easier access and departure.
Especially during the busier events, there can be heavy traffic when exiting the site resulting in delays so please do be aware of this when making your travel arrangements. For large scale racing and music events please allow up to 1hr30mins to exit the car parks.
If you wish to avoid delays leaving the racecourse we suggest that you stand close to your exit towards the end of the artist’s set and then leave 10 – 15 minutes before the last song is played. For those wishing to stay after the concert, select food and drink units will remain open for up to an hour after the concert finishes.
There is a dedicated coach parking area within the main public car park off Legsby Road which is clearly signed to assist parking in the correct place. Marshalls will be on hand to get coaches parked in an appropriate manner. Please be aware that all parking is on grass. Coach drivers will not be given access to the Racecourse without a valid admission ticket. On exit all coaches will all be directed eastbound down Legsby Road where all routes can be returned to following the diversion signage.
On arrival at the racecourse there is a dedicated drop off point within the County Car Park accessible from Legsby Road. Please ensure you follow the yellow directional signs to get you to the right place. All vehicles dropping customers off will need to return back onto the Legsby Road to leave the racecourse. From the drop off point the County Enclosure entrance is accessible across the County car park from the drop off point and Tattersalls and Lawn Enclosures are accessible via a short walk along the pathway to the main entrance. There will be no access up Legsby Road from the A631 Willingham Road after 20.00h, Friday 8th May and after 20.00h, Saturday 15th August. Please ensure your taxi/lift gets you to the racecourse in good time to avoid any issues.
