Thursday 15th May
Nottingham Racecourse’s Ladies Day in 2025 proved to be its biggest and most memorable yet with record-breaking crowds and an atmosphere buzzing with energy, style and celebration from start to finish. The event delivered on every front, from exciting flat racing to the much-anticipated N-Trance DJ set that had thousands of racegoers on raving to a euphoric 90s soundtrack.
At the heart of the day were the Style Awards which saw hundreds enter in hopes of winning the most prestigious fashion title on the local racing calendar. The overall winner was 25-year-old Lucy Carr from Sutton-in-Ashfield who impressed judges not just with her standout look but also with her heartwarming personal story.
Lucy, who works as cabin crew for Virgin Airlines, had never been to the races before and attended with her proud dad, Kevin. Her appearance at Nottingham Racecourse was a first and unforgettable experience. Lucy, who has owned a horse named Baxter since she was 15, described the day as one of the best she’s ever had. For someone who has struggled with self-esteem, winning the Style Award offered more than a trophy. Her win was made even more special when the Miss Nottinghamshire and Miss GB team surprised her with a scouting card for the 2025 pageant after she was crowned.
Lucy said, “Winning was very emotional because I’ve had a rough year last year which really knocked my confidence, so having something like that just picks you up. And then to have Helena (Miss Nottinghamshire) come and scout me out for the 2025 pageant, I mean, you don’t really get any better than that do you?
I’ve never really done anything like that, and the overwhelming emotion was just “wow, is this real?”
“Seeing the quick glance of myself in the professional photos was a really big change of mind and attitude.
“Normal people can do things like this, even if it’s small wins, you can achieve something.”
Lucy’s prize package was nothing short of spectacular. She took home four tickets to McFly vs Busted at the Motorpoint Arena, a Serenity Spa Day for two at Eden Hall, a one-of-a-kind handmade fascinator from The Dress Room in Southwell, two Premier Enclosure tickets for Ladies Day 2026, a makeup voucher from Oh Hel, a bottle of Moet & Chandon, a stunning bouquet from Slades Florist and a Hospitality Box with a sponsor’s experience for ten at Nottingham Racecourse on a non-feature day.
The day was a resounding success, with glowing feedback from guests and a real sense that Ladies Day at Nottingham has become a firm fixture in the region’s social calendar. Stylish, spirited and spectacular from start to finish, 2025 set a new standard for what racegoers can expect from this flagship event.
