Sandown Park Racecourse will host the first ever Breeders' Day initiative with the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association on Wednesday 15 September 2021.

 

Breeders’ Day, which falls during National Racehorse Week (12 – 19 September), will provide racegoers with a unique insight into the breeding industry, engaging them with interactive displays, a QR code trail, a retired racehorse parade, interviews with breeders, give-aways and trade stands.

Plus we’ll be launching a prize draw which will conclude at the end of National Racehorse Week where you can win some phenomenal prizes:

 

  • A visit to Lanwades and St Simon Studs to inspect Derby winners SIR PERCY, SEA THE MOON and STUDY OF MAN, as well as Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner BOBBY’S KITTEN. Afternoon tea with the Chairman of the International Thoroughbred Breeders Federation

 

  • A tour of Chasemore Farm Stud located in Cobham, Surrey

 

  • A morning for two on the gallops in Lambourn with Hot To Trot Racing and one of their current Lambourn Trainers with breakfast beforehand at The Pheasant Inn

 

  • Complimentary entry and lunch for four in the Panoramic Restaurant at Kempton Park (excluding the Ladbrokes Christmas Festival on 26/27 December 2021 & 2022)

Coneygree

Now 14 years old, trained by Mark Bradstock, the winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2015, as a novice.  Retired in 2019, he won in total nine of his 18 races under Rules and over half a million in prize money.

 

Side Glance

14 year old, bred and owned initially by Kingsclere Stud and trained by Andrew Balding, this International globe-trotter ran in Qatar Racing’s/Pearl Bloodstock’s colours in Dubai, Canada, USA, Hong Kong and Australia winning eight of his 40 starts and accumulating over £1.7 million in prize money. 

 

Thomas Crapper

Now 14 years old, trained by Robin Dickin, winner of seven of his 50 starts winning over £135,000 in prize money. 

 

First Fandango

Now 14 years old, trained by John Hills on the flat, he then went to Tim Vaughan for a hurdling and chase career.  He ran in total 50 times under Rules accumulating £70,000 in prize money. 

 

From 1.50pm (and following the first three race presentations of the day) the 2021 Lycetts Leadership Award, the Lycetts Team Champions Award and the Farm & Stable Award for Innovation & Wellbeing will be presented in the Winner’s Enclosure:

Parking 

  • Parking will be located in the Portsmouth Road Car Park and is complimentary for all attendees.
  • There will be no access to the Centre of the Course/More Lane Parking so all attendees should access via main entrance
  • Sandown Park is an NHS Vaccination Site so surrounding roads may be busy. Please allow additional time for your journey. 

 

Other travel

  • If arriving by train, please note Esher station is outside Zone 6 so please check your ticket before travelling.
  • The entrance from the station platform across the centre of the course will be closed for this fixture. Our Shuttle Bus Service from the Station will be available with Shuttle buses regularly running throughout the afternoon

 

Arrival Information 

  • Entry to the Racecourse will be via the Main Entrance Foyer only. Please ensure you have your tickets ready to be scanned
  • Please note - the Centre of Course entrances and parking are closed for this fixture
  • We recommend all guests take an Lateral Flow Test before attending but this is not mandatory. You will not be required to show proof of this on entry.
  • We also recommend all attendees check in via the NHS COVID-19 app on arrival. We have the QR codes located around the racecourse to enable you to check in.

 

Enclosures

  • All tickets are for the Grandstand Enclosure but you will also be able to access some of the Premier Enclosure facilities

 

Food & Drink 

  • Please note - The Brasserie will be closed for this fixture. Food and Drink outlets will be open throughout the Surrey Hall
  • We will be operating cashless sales throughout our food and drink outlets, including concessions. For betting facilities cash payment will still be accepted, but contactless payments are recommended.
  • Picnics are permitted on course as per pre-COVID rules - They can only be consumed in the picnic enclosure by the Racecourse. Please refer to our picnic guidelines for more information. 

 

Hygiene 

  • Face masks and maintaining a safe distance from others are encouraged in all indoor areas.

 

Racecards

  • Racecards will be available at this meeting and will be £3.00. They can be purchased via the Main Entrance Foyer and at Tote outlets

 

Dress code

  • Normal Grandstand Dress Code applies to all Admission tickets
