Part of the excitement of the Randox Health Grand National is the unexpected twists and turns of the event. Interesting facts about the Randox Health Grand National

 

The first ever Grand National race took place in 1839. The winning horse was called Lottery, winning with odds of 5-1.

 

The most famous horse to run the Grand National was Red Rum, winning a record three times, and coming second twice. Red Rum died in 1995 and is buried at the winning post at Aintree Racecourse.

 

The most unlikely winner was Foinavon in 1967, with odds of 100-1.

 

The youngest jockey to win the Grand National was Bruce Hobbs in 1938, at just 17 years old. The oldest jockey was Dick Saunders, who won in 1982 at the age of 47.
