CARLISLE’S BEST JUMP RACEDAY ATTRACTS HIGH-CLASS ENTRIES

Article 26th October 2026 Carlisle

By Ben Cox

Carlisle Racecourse stages its best Jump fixture of the season this coming Sunday (November 1st), when one of the highlights of the seven-race programme is the £40,000 Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase.

Run over two and a half miles and carrying Listed status, the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase commemorates the late Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer Colin Parker, who was based at Lockerbie in Scotland. The race is restricted to first and second season chasers with its impressive roll of honour featuring the likes of future Grade One winners Lostintranslation, Waiting Patiently, Cyrname and Monet’s Garden, plus Grand National hero Many Clouds.

A high-class entry of nine for the 2026 renewal includes a trio - Blueking d'Oroux, Doyen Quest and Captain Teague - from the yard of champion trainer Dan Skelton.

Doyen Quest ended last season perfectly with a six-length success in the bet365 Oaksey Chase on bet365 Jump Finale at Sandown Park, while Blueking d'Oroux and Captain Teague were both previously trained by Paul Nicholls. Captain Teague, a Grade One winner over hurdles, scored easily on his debut for Skelton at Ffos Las earlier this month.

Topping the ratings for the contest is Potters Charm (Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies). Successful in the Grade One Sefton Novices’ Hurdle on Boxing Day at Aintree in 2024, he made the perfect start to his chasing career when winning at Worcester on October 12th.

Sixmilebridge (Fergal O’Brien) is a Grade One winner over fences, having taken the Virgin Bet Scilly Isles Novices' Chase at Sandown Park in January, while Wendigo (Jamie Snowden) landed the Grade Two John Francome Novices' Chase at Newbury just under a year ago and went on to take third in the Grade One Ladbrokes Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton Park over Christmas.

Sunday’s other highlight is the £40,000 Listed Pricedup Boosted Prices Daily Houghton Mares' Chase, staged over the same two-and-a-half-mile distance as the Colin Parker Chase.

A strong entry of 11 includes last year’s winner Paggane (Faye Bramley) and Panic Attack (Dan Skelton), who recorded a memorable double last season with victories in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham and Coral Gold Cup at Newbury.
