DUKE OF NAVAN

The ex local trained Duke of Navan for local trainer Nicky Richards for owners David & Nicky Robinson was one of the flagbearing northern horses for a few good years. He had wins as a novice hurdler and the Morebattle hurdle at Kelso & ran in 2 grade 1s.

He won his first novice chase at Carlisle & followed it up winning the listed chase at the Scottish National meeting. He ran in many good handicap chases around the country. He totalled over £144,000 in prize money.

He was broken in by Brian Harding who was his jockey until he retired in 2017, then Ryan Day & Danny McMenamin took over. He was a yard favourite & he was Nicky’s ride towards the end of his training.

He has gone full circle and is now living the good life with Brian’s wife Kelly who has taken him to many fun rides, camps & he’s been hunting all winter. He won his first ROR show in hand. He is ridden over the fells regularly & he will be aimed at the ROR classes in the summer.

He is adored by all of us & he still gets visits from all who have been involved with him from the beginning.
