The Jump season at Sandown Park gets underway on Sunday the 8th November. Sandown’s one and only Sunday fixture of the year, Countryside Day, provides an action packed afternoon of quality National Hunt racing along with various complimentary ‘country pursuit’ activities, including falconry, pony rides and a petting farm. 

Sandown will host a number of activities and demonstrations throughout the day. There will be a Falconry and Birds of Prey display, including 10 different birds.  The Quack Pack run by Meirion Owen will showcase the amazing talents of Border Collies and the communication between handler and his dog as they round up his pack of Indian Runner Ducks. His demonstrations are informative, educational and highly entertaining whilst also being interactive, allowing hands-on participation.  Howard Kirby will also be coming along with his team of gun dogs to demonstrate a variety of dog training techniques and tips that can be applied to puppies’ right up to advanced Gundogs. Howard competes with his Gundogs and took home the 2014 Hunt Point Retriever Championships with one of his German Long Haired Pointers. He also runs the Lains Shooting School and Mullenscote Dog Training Centre based in Andover.

With the fixture falling on Remembrance Sunday, the Royal British Legion will be attending the racecourse to give everyone the opportunity to wear a poppy to show their support. Exclusive to this day, Sandown are offering a Sunday Carvery Lunch that includes a 2 course lunch and premier enclosure admission for just £59 per adult, plus a child under 12 can eat for free with each paying adult.
