The Jockey Club Live presents An Evening At The Races is set to welcome pop sensation Jess Glynne this summer to four racecourses across the UK, as a part of the An Evening At The Races season of live concerts. The Jockey Club Live events are renowned for combining a fun filled evening at the races with a spectacular evening concert in the informal and relaxed open-air setting of some of the world’s most famous racecourses.
Announced earlier this year, Jess Glynne is set to perform headlining sets at Haydock Park (1st Jul), Sandown Park (13th Jul), Newmarket (12th Aug) and Market Rasen (13th Aug) Racecourses, with her date at Newmarket Nights already selling out. With such a high demand to see one of the UKs brightest stars, the tickets sold out a massive five months ahead of the Newmarket show.
Jess Glynne will be donating a portion of her fee for each show to an equine charity, of which The Jockey Club Live will match. The charity she has chosen is Retraining of Racehorses (RoR); http://www.ror.org.uk/.
Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is British horseracing’s official equine charity responsible for safeguarding the welfare of former racehorses. Their primary objective is to ensure horses that retire from racing go on and enjoy a second career in an alternative equine activity. There are currently over 11,500 horses registered on the charity’s database as active in other equine disciplines. The charity’s work also includes education of owners, the provision of horses for equine therapy helping disadvantaged children and adults with special needs and providing care for vulnerable horses
Jess Glynne said:
‘Supporting a charity specialising in retraining retired race horses is a pleasure, the work RoR carries out is incredible - protecting the welfare of these beautiful animals.’
Andrew Wilkinson, CEO & Co-Founder of The Jockey Club Live said:
‘We’re delighted to have Jess Glynne join us this summer, performing four shows across Haydock Park, Sandown Park, Newmarket and Market Rasen. Undoubtedly the biggest success story of the past few years, she has so many hits it’s going to be a pleasure to hear them all in the open-air setting of these beautiful racecourses. She’s passionate about the welfare of horses so after she told us she wanted to donate a portion of her fee for the events to an equine charity, it was a simple decision for The Jockey Club Live to match her donation to RoR.’
Paul Roy, Chairman of Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) said:
‘This donation is a fantastic gesture by Jess and The Jockey Club Live for which we are deeply grateful. A passion and love for horses is what binds all of us involved with British racing together and as the sport’s official equine charity it is RoR’s role to ensure that when horses retire from racing they are given the opportunity to be re-trained in another equine activity. The Jockey Club Live and Jess’s most generous donation will be put to good use in helping us deliver the charity’s key objective, namely enabling an increasing number of former racehorses to find a fulfilling second career.’
