Matchbook doubles Imperial Cup bonus to £100,000

Press Release 24th January 2018 Sandown Park

Matchbook, sponsors of the Imperial Cup at Sandown Park Racecourse, will offer a £100,000 bonus should the winner of the Matchbook Imperial Cup at Sandown Park on 10th March go on to win any race at the Cheltenham Festival the following week. This sees a 100% increase on last year’s bonus, from £50,000 to £100,000.

The Matchbook Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle is run over 2 miles and is worth £75,000 this year, an increase of £5,000.

Matchbook sponsors 16 fixtures at Sandown Park and Kempton Park Racecourses in 2018, including the historic Brigadier Gerard Evening at Sandown Park and Silver Cups Day at Kempton Park.

Matchbook will also support the Cheltenham Festival preview panel held after racing on Imperial Cup day. Further details will be announced shortly.

Bradley Morrish, Matchbook Director of Business Development, said:

“We are excited to invest £100,000 in our continued commitment to British Racing and support of The Jockey Club, doubling the previous bonus we brought back to the Imperial Cup last year. We look forward to seeing some Cheltenham contenders at Sandown Park on what is a fantastic day in the lead up to the Festival.”

Tony Langenegger, London Region Partnerships Manager, The Jockey Club, said:

“We are delighted Matchbook have chosen to continue with the Imperial Cup bonus this year. We thank them for generously doubling the bonus to £100,000, which provides an extra dimension to the day and we look forward to seeing which Cheltenham contenders are entered in the Matchbook Imperial Cup. The Matchbook Imperial Cup day is always a great day’s racing, that perfectly tees up four days of action at the Cheltenham Festival the following week.”
