Dress up for the Gentlemen’s and Kingmaker Chase Day

Press Release 2nd February 2018 Warwick

A challenge has been set to find the smartest gentlemen racing fan as Warwick Racecourse prepares to host its next feature raceday.

The Gentlemen’s and Kingmaker Chase Day takes place on Saturday, February 11 and will include a best dressed gentlemen competition.

Judges will be looking for the best sported blazers, top hats and vibrant trousers, with prizes up for grabs including a BMW 4 Series Coupe for a weekend, courtesy of Rybrook Warwick, tickets to Ladies’ Day at The Cheltenham Festival, annual family passes to Warwick Castle, along with vouchers for the Warwickshire Golf and Country Club.

The Grade 2 Betway Kingmaker Novices’ Chase is the highlight of the race card – a race won in the past by greats such as Long Run and Finian’s Rainbow.

Andre Klein, General Manager at Warwick Racecourse, said: “This is the perfect opportunity for gents to dress up in their absolute finest clothing and be in with a chance of securing some great prizes.

“I’m sure the judges on the day will have a tough time in picking the best dressed man as in previous years everyone has really got into the spirit which has made for a fun afternoon. Of course, by no means is it compulsory to dress up!

“The racing for this fixture is always top drawer which should make for a great afternoon of racing. The Betway Kingmaker Novices’ Chase is a two mile race used as a preparation event for the very prestigious Arkle Steeplechase, one of the gems of The Festival.

“There’s a host of previous winners which have gone on to win some of the sport’s biggest prizes and will be well known to people.

“This list includes Long Run (winner of the Gold Cup), Arctic Kinsman (Aintree Martell Chase winner), Finians Rainbow (Queens Mother Champion Chase winner), Viking Flagship (Queen Mother Champion Chase two times winner) and Voy Por Ustedes (Arkle and Queen Mother Champion Chase) to name just a few.

“We’re looking forward to seeing who will be added to this illustrious list and hopefully we’ll see a few stars of the future again.”
