Schoolchildren turn superheroes for Kids Carnival Day at Warwick Racecourse

Press Release 17th April 2019 Warwick

Children are being challenged to pull on their superhero capes and fly to Warwick Racecourse for Kids Carnival Day.

Kids Carnival Day marks the opening of the Qatar Airways May Racing Carnival and will take place on the first Bank Holiday of the month, Monday, May 6.

This year’s Carnival theme is ‘Superhero Family Fun’ and special guests on the day will include Superman, Superwoman, Batman and Batwoman – giving young racegoers the chance to meet their superhero idols.

Last year’s raceday attracted a bumper crowd of more than 6,500 racegoers and has become one of the most popular fixtures on the calendar at Warwick.

Children can get in for free for the event as the centre of the course will be transformed into a Family Fun Zone, with a range of free rides and activities.

Seven races will held across the day and activities including a climbing wall, juggling workshop, face painting and more taking place throughout for children to enjoy.

There will also be performances from The Top Bananas, the UK's only professional band on stilts, and Mr Twister and his magic show.

The popular Derby Horse Hoppers will be at the raceday too, giving the youngsters a chance to race on their own inflatable horse.

Andre Klein, General Manager at Warwick Racecourse, said: “The Kids Carnival Day is always a brilliant way to start the Qatar Airways May Racing Carnival and we’re expecting a great crowd on Bank Holiday Monday.

“We want to see as many little superheroes around the course as possible entertainment we have on offer.

“Last year the raceday broke attendance records with the amount of families who turned up and it was a wonderful day.

“It’s a great day out for the family and a chance to introduce the next generation to the sport.”

The Qatar Airways May Racing Carnival continues with Ladies Night on Saturday, May 11, before the Proudly Warwick meeting on May 22 and closing with the Celebration Raceday on May 30.

Gates open for Kids Carnival Day at 11.30am, with the first race at 1.30pm and the last at 5pm. Advanced tickets for the main enclosure are £17.50 and children under-18 go free.
