Coral to sponsor Group 1 Coronation Cup as official betting partner for Cazoo Oaks Day

Article 26th May 2021 Epsom Downs

The Jockey Club today announced that Coral will sponsor the Group 1 Coronation Cup and become the official betting partner for Cazoo Oaks Day at Epsom Downs on Friday 4th June 2021.

One of the marquee days in British and global Flat racing, Cazoo Oaks Day features the Group 1 Coronation Cup, one of the leading middle-distance contests for older horses and first established in 1902.

Coral will sponsor three contests on the day including the Group 1 Coronation Cup and the Listed Surrey Stakes on a day of top-class and competitive racing which has always captured the imagination of racing fans and punters alike.

This is the first time Coral have sponsored at Epsom Downs, but adds to a longstanding relationship with The Jockey Club via a near-45 year sponsorship of the Coral-Eclipse and a prestigious portfolio of racing sponsorship more widely.

Phil White, Regional Director at The Jockey Club, said: “We’re thrilled to announce this partnership with Coral, headlined by one of our most high-profile Group 1 races in the shape of the Coral Coronation Cup which so many of our sport’s best middle distance horses have won over the last 120 years.

“We’re looking forward to a top-class day of competitive Flat racing on Friday 4th June when both punters and racing fans will be well-catered for, whether on course with us or watching on from home.”

Simon Clare, PR Director at Coral, said: “We are delighted to be associating Coral with a race as prestigious as the Coronation Cup, and a day with the magnitude of Cazoo Oaks Day. Coral is the most committed long-standing sponsor in British racing, with three Coral sponsorships alone dating back to the 1970s – the Coral-Eclipse since 1976, the Coral Cup (and before that the Coral Golden Hurdle) since 1974 and the Coral Welsh Grand National since 1973, and we are thrilled to be strengthening this leading position with an association with the Coral Coronation Cup.”
