The Jockey Club has partnered with drag superstar Cherry Valentine as the spectacular Cazoo Ladies Day at Epsom Downs is set for Friday 3rd June.
Cherry will be welcomed onto the judging panel alongside a top line up including leading milliner Lisa Tan and top stylist Sarah Kate Byrne. As the awards’ first-ever drag judge, Cherry will use her keen eye to help select the very best looks of the day, from tailoring triumphs to the finest fascinators.
Those familiar with the world of drag will recognise Cherry as the first Traveller Queen that appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, also exploring her Romany heritage in the BBC Three documentary, Gypsy Queen and Proud. The most inclusive Style Awards yet, guests of all identities are encouraged to enter and showcase their Ladies Day attire, so all attendees should be sure to bring their A-game.
The Jockey Club’s partnership with Cherry Valentine comes as part of its ongoing support of Racing With Pride, the official LGBTQ+ network for British Racing. With a vision for British Racing to be a sport for all, The Jockey Club is committed to ensuring greater inclusion and diversity within the horseracing industry.
As part of its journey to grow and evolve, The Jockey Club has implemented several initiatives focusing on gender, race and supporting LGBTQ+ communities, and continues to champion diversity as a fundamental factor in the future of horseracing. The Jockey Club has introduced an Inclusion and Diversity Lead, focused on shining a light on all inclusion, diversity and equality matters, both internally and across the industry, and also works with a number of partners (including Women in Racing, Racing Together’s Autism in Racing, and The Hidden Disability Sunflower Scheme) as part of its mission to open British racing up to a wider audience.
Join us for an unmissable day at the races on Friday 3rd June, from 11am. Tickets for this year’s Cazoo Derby are still available to purchase, with varying ticket levels and pricing available on The Jockey Club’s website.
