RACING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
We are pleased that, as part of the phased return of owners to racecourses in line with the Government guidance for elite sports grounds, we are able to allow a limited number of owners (or their representatives) to attend race meetings held behind closed doors. However, to minimise risk for owners and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all raceday attendees, there will be a number of protocols in operation. We understand some of these are very different from your usual raceday experience but we ask for your co-operation and understanding in these exceptional circumstances.
Arriving at the Racecourse
The designated Owners’ car park will be Car Park 6, in front of the Derby Arms and will be appropriately signed. Please enter via the Main Gate, opposite the roundabout. There will be a designated arrival checkpoint inside the Main Gate at which you will then be asked to confirm you have pre-registered to attend through the PASS system, photographic ID checked, answer the health screen questions and undertake a temperature test. Once you have passed all these protocols you will be issued with a coloured wristband to be worn at all times. Without exception, any who have not pre-registered or fail any of the outlined protocols will not be permitted to enter the racecourse.
We are providing a facility, the Diomed Suite on the first floor of the Duchess’s Stand for owners attending on the day. Racecards will be available in the Suite. The Queen’s Stand cannot be accessed by owners. There will be a complimentary pre-packed lunch and afternoon tea offer available as well as tea and coffee. Soft drinks are available to purchase via contactless payment with table service. No alcohol will be available to purchase or served as per the BHA Guidelines.
Please note the Diomed Suite is on the first floor of the Duchess’s stand and can only be accessed via the dedicated stairs. Please contact the Owners Liaison Manager if you have any mobility issues or accessibility requirements.
Viewing the racing
The Suite overlooks the racecourse with outside seating and standing areas and you will be able to walk down to the racecourse rail if you wish. There is no access to the Pre-Parade or Parade Rings, however, a designated area on the Hyperion Lawn, adjacent to the Parade Ring will be available for owners to view their horses. All floor markings/signage and instructions from raceday personnel must be observed and follow the one way systems in operation. The Winning and Placed connections’ rooms are unavailable, but there will be an opportunity to view the race again and collect a trophy.
There will be no formal dress code on Investec Derby Day. Owners are requested to dress smartly but Gentleman are not required to wear a morning suit and Ladies are not required to wear a hat or fascinator.
