From bumper crowds for Becky Hill to top-class racing and high fashion – a fantastic weekend at Haydock Park had it all

Press Release 13th August 2025 Haydock Park

An action-packed weekend at Haydock Park drew thousands of racegoers as top-class racing, live entertainment, and high fashion came together.

Friday night (August 9th) delivered the biggest crowd at the Merseyside track since the Coronavirus pandemic, with 16,722 fans enjoying an unforgettable performance from Becky Hill after racing.

Ladies Day followed on Saturday (August 10th), with a seven-race card featuring the Group Three Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes, which was won by Royal Dubai, ridden by Callum Rodriguez, a jockey with a special connection to Haydock Park as a proud Lancashire local.

Away from the track, the annual Style Awards took centre stage, with Alison Forster from Manchester claiming the Style Stakes title. Her prizes included a £1,000 holiday voucher, tickets to see Katy Perry in Manchester, entry to next year’s Randox Grand National, and a magnum of Ultimate Provence rosé wine.

Speaking about the weekend Haydock Park’s General Manager, Simon Tonge, said: “It’s been an incredibly busy and vibrant three days at Haydock Park, with something for everyone to enjoy.

“We’ve showcased a fantastic mix of top-class racing, fashion, music, and family entertainment, and it’s been wonderful to welcome so many visitors.

“On Friday alone, we hosted more than 16,000 racegoers - our largest crowd since the pandemic - and saw increased attendance on Ladies’ Day as well.”

Sunday at Haydock Park played host to the Sky Bet Sunday Series fixture, which also doubled as a Family Fun Day, offering a wide range of free activities for all ages. Visitors enjoyed everything from a Circus School and giant inflatables to face painting dotted around the course.

Simon added: “Children under 18 can attend the majority of our fixtures free of charge, so Sunday was the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy a full day of entertainment at no extra cost. With the sun shining, it was the ideal way to round off a fantastic weekend.”

On the track, the headline moment came in race four when Spring Is Sprung claimed victory in the Sky Bet Extra Places Handicap Stakes for owner John Blackburn. The win sealed a remarkable £100,000 bonus, following earlier series triumphs at Newmarket and Chelmsford.
