WIGLEY GROUP CLASSIC CHASE DAY
With the jump season well underway it's time to get serious about racing. First up in our Super Saturdays line up is The Classic Chase on Saturday 13th Jan.
If there is one day to head to Warwick Racecourse then this is it. This is the classic! One of our feature racedays of the season, The Wigley Group Classic Chase Day has a thrilling seven race card including two graded races and the Premier handicap feature race of the day – The Wigley Group Classic Handicap Steeple Chase.
It gives racing fans a taste for what’s to come throughout the season from both well-seasoned handicappers to progressive novices. Last year Stan Sheppard rode 'I will do it' to victory after a break of 383 days. And not forgetting the wonderful 'One for Arthur' who went on to win The Grand National in 2017. Who will take this year’s Classic Chase glory?
As well as fantastic racing on the track we have roaming music from Fat Cat Brass and heritage crafts on display, it’s a day not to miss.
The Classic Chase heritage crafts display will showcase traditional techniques, from intricate weaving to forging with fire. Immerse yourself in tradition and discover the artistry and skills that have been passed down through generations. Racegoers will have the chance to watch skilled artisans showcase classic skills and perhaps try some techniques themselves.
The Classic Chase is weekend racing at its best so gather your friends and get the 13 January on the calendar.

CLASSIC BY NAME, CLASSIC BY NATURE
The Classic Chase race is a Grade 3 handicap steeplechase raced at Warwick Racecourse in January of each year.
The first running of the race took place in 1973 (previously called The Warwick Brooke Bond Oxo National Chase) up until 2000. The Classic Chase race as we know it was introduced in 2004.
It welcomes horses aged five and over to run over a distance of around 3m 5f 54yds with 22 fences jumped.
It's a test of stamina in every sense of the word and has proven to be a great prep for the Randox Grand National, with One For Arthur winning both races in 2017.
