71 horses, 7 races, a parade and racecourse gallop on Badger Ales Racedays
Friday, 10th November 2017 – Tomorrow, (Saturday, 11th November) 71 horses will line up in a seven racecard featuring the much-anticipated Badger Ales Chase, the Unibet Elite Hurdle and the John Romans Park Homes Rising Stars Novices’ Chase.
18 run in the 3:35pm Badger Ales Chase with Paul Nicholls dominating the field with three entries that include Southfield Theatre, Present Man (owned by Hall & Woodhouse Chairman, Mark Woodhouse) and Mr Mix. While Colin Tizzard has reduced his entries to two declared runners including the top weighted Theatre Guide and Tempestatefloresco. A trainer not to be ignored is Venetia Williams, who is very much considered a specialist with soft ground horses, lines up with Yala Enki and Vic de Touzaine.
Nicky Henderson and stable jockey Nico de Boinville team up for one mount - Lough Derg Spirit in the Unibet Elite Hurdle – with the owners making a bespoke helicopter visit! Seven run in this Grade 2 contest including the faithful 11-year-old Melodic Rendezvous.
Only three run in the 2:25pm John Romans Park Homes Rising Stars Novices’ Chase with representatives from Paul Nicholls, Colin Tizzard and Neil Mulholland.
Gates open tomorrow at 10:30am with the first race off at 12:40pm.
Ahead of racing, the Colin Tizzard-trained Thistlecrack will lead a 11:45am parade with stablemates Cue Card and Fox Norton. Former Cheltenham Festival Champion Hurdle winner - Rock on Ruby – will also be joining the parade.
The Tizzard trio, will then enjoy a racecourse gallop, ahead of racing, which will mark Thistlecrack’s official return to racing following a 10-month absence. Thistlecrack, Cue Card and Fox Norton all features among a stellar cast of 26 entries for the 32Red King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
