GALOPIN TO BACK TO BACK WINS

Gold Cup was won for the second consecutive year by Galopin Des Champs.

The great race, which celebrated it’s centenary in 2024, was won by jockey Paul Townend for a record-equalling fourth time after his previous successes on Al Boum Photo (2019, 2020) and Galopin Des Champs (2023). The only other jockey to win chasing’s Blue Riband four times was the late Pat Taaffe, successful on Arkle (1964, 1965, 1966) and Fort Leney (1968).

PRESTBURY TURNED GREEN AGAIN

After four incredible days of racing and 27 thrilling races, the Irish once again dominated the Prestbury Cup and held on to the title for another year. The Great British resurgence from Thursday was short lived as the Irish took 6 of the 7 races on Friday - finishing on a score of 18 for Ireland to 9 to Great Britain.

THAT WAS ABSURDE!

Willie Mullins saddled the winner of the BetMGM County Hurdle for a record-extending seventh time when Absurde benefited from a superbly timed Paul Townend ride to get up on the run in and score by a length. Paul Towend was also victorious in claiming the champion jockey award for the entire Festival 2024.
