SADDLE UP FOR A CRACKER!
Saturday, is the showpiece of the meeting, the lively, excitable and fun atmosphere, coupled with superb sporting action and fantastic entertainment makes it’s an unmissable day. The racing glitterati are out in force, owners, trainers and jockeys are battling it out on the track to return to victorious to the cheer of the crowds nestled in the rolling Cotswold hills.
One of the most anticipated race days outside the Cheltenham Festival, November Saturday never disappoints both on and off the track.
The day started well for a name not as well-known as most, trainer James Owen, when his Burdett Road won the Grade 2 JCB Triumph Hurdle trial under the future Champion Jockey, Harry Cobden, in the familiar colours of The Gredley Family. Burdett Road went out the meeting as one of Britian’s big hopes for the Cheltenham Festival.
Cheltenham Festival hero, Stage Star returned triumphant to a packed winners’ enclosure landing the feature race of the weekend, The Paddy Power Gold Cup, giving super-star jockey Harry Cobden another trip to the winners’ enclosure.
The Karndean Design Flooring Mares Listed bumper gave Cheltenham Supremo, Willie Mullins his first winner of the meeting with Baby Kate winning under Brian Hayes.
It was a good day for local trainers with both Nigel Twiston Davies and Jonjo O’Neill getting on the score board.
Under 18’s race free.
