LOCAL RESIDENT ACCESS INFORMATION

We are quickly approaching the time of year when we welcome racegoers from around the country to our neighbourhood to enjoy one of Britain’s largest sporting events. I know for many of our racecourse neighbours this understandably creates a level of inconvenience.

This year’s Festival runs from Tuesday March 11th to Friday March 14th, and I can promise you that the team at the racecourse hugely appreciates the patience and understanding of those who live and work close to the track.

We do listen to the feedback and to the suggestions we receive and are constantly thinking of ways we can mitigate and reduce any issues our local residents might experience as a result of our event.

Two years ago we introduced "Love Our Turf". The impact of this initiative was instantaneous and we saw a massive reduction in anti-social behaviour. Our objective this year is simply to continue the positive momentum we influenced since 2023. We have increased the number of stewards on the street and placed more toilets along the most utilised pedestrian routes to/from the racecourse. Additionally, this year, Love Our Turf will be supported by an extensive advertising campaign that will work in unison with the Council’s own anti-social behaviour strategy.

Parking in the vicinity of the racecourse will be restricted to Permit Holders Only. Further information on the permit scheme and terms and conditions can be found on Gloucestershire County Council’s website.

Every vehicle parked on-street will require a “virtual” permit. Residents who have previously registered for a Racecourse permit do not need to reapply for future race meetings. However, please amend your account if you have changed your vehicle. Properties are eligible for a maximum of two permits which are free of charge and there will be special permits available for carers. Residents will need their council tax reference, property address details and vehicle registration number when registering.

To register for a Racecourse Permit please visit the website or telephone 0345 520 7007 (Option 2)

A MESSAGE FROM US

We realise that our events may be a world-wide attraction, but our venue is very much part of a local neighbourhood.

We also know that, no matter what we do, when we have huge numbers of people descend on the racecourse to enjoy a day out, it impacts on those that live around us, in both positive and negative ways.

It is important to us that our neighbours know that we take the role we play in the community very seriously and always give consideration to the potential impact our events might have.

We are very proud to be part of Cheltenham and of course Prestbury and want our locals to be proud to have a wonderful racecourse on their doorstep.

The race days at Cheltenham collectively bring about £150 million to the businesses in town, but we are striving to be more than just about money.

We want to continue to contribute in other meaningful ways, that enhances the lives of those living around the racecourse.

We know we won’t get everything right, and know that there are times when there will be an inconvenience, but we ask for your patience and understanding.

Please remember if you have suggestions or ideas on how we can improve what we do, or can make a positive difference then please do not think twice about getting in touch and letting us know.

We will always be happy to listen and improve what we do.

LOVE OUR TURF

Cheltenham Racecourse is dedicated to ensuring our events have minimal negative impact on those who live and work around the racecourse.

Please read the latest information regarding local road closures and restrictions, parking and no waiting zones.

The Love Our Turf initiative, that we introduced two years ago, will once again be in operation throughout the Cheltenham Festival. This will see a large number of stewards lining the walking routes to and from the racecourse promoting positive behaviour in our racegoers and offering re-assurance to those in the community who require it.

Since we launched Love Our Turf we have seen a huge decrease in reported anti-social incidents, however, if there are any issues that you wish to bring to our attention on race days, please contact the racecourse directly and we will respond appropriately.
