A HAYDOCK HIGHLIGHT

Armed forces day

Join us for an action-packed day of Flat racing at Haydock Park, in which the sprinters take centre stage.

The line-up is headlined by the Group Two Temple Stakes over five furlongs, a popular starting point for some of the top speedsters in training each season.

Recent horses to take the spoils include Battaash (2017 and 2018), Sole Power (2011) and Kingsgate Native (2010 and 2013) and it’s not uncommon to see the winner return for the Group One Sprint Cup in September.

Also on the card is the Group Two Sandy Lane Stakes for three year olds, which is seen as a key trial for the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, while each of the five supporting handicaps are renowned for producing strong form.

The Lanc band will be welcoming race goers to the racecourse between gates open and first race.

If that doesn't whet your appetite then we will also have activities from the Armed Forces including an inflatable assault course, Landrovers, military trucks and a number of military bands performing throughout the day. As well as an Army Tank, face painters and a replica Cave to climb in an around.

We can’t think of a reason for you not to join us!

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is the Army’s national charity, here for soldiers, past and present, and their families for life.

We stand at the forefront of support for the Army family, last year supporting 60,000 people in 63 countries around the world. As one of the largest funders in the sector, we award grants to individuals and families, and fund leading organisations that support soldiers, former soldiers, and their families. When we hear of a person or family in need, we aim to respond within 48 hours.

All serving soldiers, veterans and their immediate families should have the opportunity to avoid hardship and enjoy independence and dignity.

Haydock Park have been keen supporters of the charity for sum years now. Hosting their annual Armed Forces race day helps raise awareness and provide a generous fundraising opportunity for The Army’s National Charity,  which in turn helps us to continue offering a lifetime of support to serving soldiers, former soldiers and their families.

We are thrilled and very much looking forward to taking part in this years race day and look forward to seeing you all there!
