LOCAL TV SOAPSTARS EMBRACE WEATHER TO ENJOY ONE OF THE BIGGEST ROSE OF LANCASTER STAKES LADIES DAY

Today, Haydock Park Racecourse held one of the most glamorous race days of the summer, the Rose of Lancaster Stakes Ladies Day.

A crowd of 12,000 embraced the weather and put on their most stylish outfits to enjoy a day of fabulous racing and entertainment.

Ladies Day ambassador and Hollyoaks star Lauren McQueen judged the highly popular Style Stakes competition which saw Jennifer Echeverria win a £2,000 holiday. Congratulations to finalists Hannah Malone and Trudi Calladine who were worthy finalists in the 2019 Style Stakes competition.

Lauren McQueen said: “It’s been an honour to be the Ladies Day ambassador and judge the Style Stakes competition today. The pressure was on but it was amazing to see so many ladies, and gents dressed in fabulous, stylish outfits. I wanted to pick so many winners!

“I have loved my day at Haydock Park. It’s been great to get dressed up with my best friends and enjoy a day out, plus I’ve had a couple of winners!”

Spotted at the racecourse were some of the cast of ITV’s soap opera, Coronation Street, including Mikey North (who plays Gary Windass), Jack Shepherd (who plays David Platt) and Colson Smith (who plays Craig Tinker). Model and bury-based actress Georgia May Foote also enjoyed the day with her friends.

Mikey North said: “Fantastic day at Haydock Park - a great looking local track with a decent vibe and some top class racing. The weather didn’t seem to dampen the spirits, I’m looking forward to coming back soon.”

On the track, the £63,000 Group 3 feature race, the Rose of Lancaster Stakes was won by ADDEYBB for trainer William Haggas and jockey Richard Kingscote.

To finish the day of racing, Style Guru and DJ Gok Wan played an impressive 90-minute set for racegoers to dance the night away.
