Fashionistas took centre-stage at Haydock Park

Press Release 15th August 2023 Haydock Park

Fashionistas took centre-stage at Haydock Park on Saturday afternoon, with the annual style awards on Ladies Day attracting hundreds of entries.

Run by The Jockey Club in conjunction with The Buyers Club and House Of Cavani, the contest encouraged racegoers to strut their stuff on Betfred Rose of Lancaster Day – with some amazing prizes up for grabs for the top three.

The winner was 54-year-old Andrea Bristoe from Walton Village, who scooped a winning prize which included a dental care package worth £3000 from The Dental Café and a £2000 holiday voucher.

Andrea impressed the judges with her outfit, combining a stunning red and white & Other Stories dress with Louis Vuitton shoes and a hat from Liverpool designer Stephanie Elizabeth Millinery.

And she revealed that she only entered the competition at the very last minute, after being encouraged to do so by her fellow racegoers.

She said: “It wasn’t until about three o’clock that I entered! Loads of ladies were coming up to me and were saying that I needed to enter the style contest.

“It’s my first time I’ve ever entered. The prizes are absolutely amazing and I haven’t really got my head round it yet to be honest!”

The runner-up was 49-year-old Alison Forster from Manchester, who teamed up a home-made headpiece using feathers and brooches from eBay with a brown Self Portrait dress, while Bobby Aso placed third dressed in a smart suit.

Judging the competition was Radio City Breakfast Show host Leanne Campbell, who recently launched her own fashion range alongside two friends.

She said: “Today has been the toughest day for judging. There were literally hundreds of amazing entries and the final two girls both looked absolutely stunning.

“What just edged it for the winner was her pop of colour. She teamed white and red together absolutely brilliantly and it suited her skin tone and her hair.

“She worked the look completely and she looked like she could be on the front cover of Vogue!”
