The race is on in the Trainers Commentary Competition Over £7,000 already raised

Press Release 19th September 2017 Newmarket

In the final days leading up to the Betfred Cesarewitch Trail Day, the Trainers taking part in the annual Trainers Commentary Competition are getting as much practice in as possible before they step into the commentary position at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile.

Despite 32Red Newmarket Open Weekend taking place last weekend, the competition is in aid of the very worthy beneficiaries associated with this popular public event, where the Home of Horseracing opens its doors to the public.  The three charities and projects which will benefit from the funds raised from the six Trainers taking part include; Racing Welfare’s Newmarket Housing Project, the Newmarket Day Centre and Newmarket Academy’s Social Mobility Fund.

Jamie Osborne, Joe Tuite and Brendan Powell will represent the Valley of the Racehorse as Team Lambourn and Amy Murphy, Richard Spencer and Mark Tompkins will represent the home team as Team Newmarket.  Despite the commentary taking place on Saturday the winner will be announced on Monday, 2nd October and will be based on who has raised the most amount of money.

To date, £7,382.99 (and counting!) has been raised through the combined efforts of both teams and it is hopeful that people will be even more inspired to support each Trainer after Saturday for the last week that fundraising is open via Just Giving.
