Newmarket Racecourse have partnered with sustainable cup suppliers Event Cup Solutions to reduce emissions and encourage sustainability at the historic Rowley Mile for a trial period across their autumn fixtures.

Event Cup Solutions, the company behind the ONE Planet ONE Chance® Reusable Cup System, will provide Newmarket with its own unique sustainable solution, enabling the venue to reduce their carbon footprint further.

The ONE Planet ONE Chance® Reusable Cup System encourages spectators to return their cups to dedicated bins located throughout the venue, ready for Event Cup Solutions’ on-site team to collect and prepare for return for washing at the company’s state-of- the-art wash facility, where they are put through a specialist wash and drying process, preparing them for the next event.

Kirstin McEvoy, Sustainability Lead at The Jockey Club, said: “We are always looking for ways to improve our sustainability efforts and we see this trial as being a great way to gauge the viability of this reusable cup system across multiple fixtures.

“Around 30,000 people pass through The Rowley Mile each autumn, so this is an important opportunity to see how Event Cup Solutions’ ONE Planet ONE Chance® Reusable Cup System works and gather feedback from our teams and customers.”

We estimate the venue will use in excess of 105,000 cups for their Autumn events, and our aim is to make it easy for visitors to return the cups by providing collection bins which will be positioned in easily accessible and visible areas of the venue. We hope this trial will demonstrate how our reusable cup system can hugely benefit Newmarket Racecourse and other Jockey Club venues around the county.”   

Event Cup Solutions was recently awarded ClimatePartner status in recognition of the action it takes to reduce its environmental impact through its products.
