Racing for Children Charity Raceday
RACING CANCELLED, RACING FOR CHARITY LUNCH STILL GOING AHEAD
We’re sorry to announce that racing has been cancelled at our Season Opener on Sunday 25 October. Unfortunately, due to the continued warm and dry weather and our limited ability to water the track, conditions are not improving sufficiently to allow the fixture to take place safely as planned. Our races have therefore been transferred to Market Rasen on the same date, where racing has continued throughout the summer and safe ground can be provided.
We are, however, pleased to confirm that the Charity Lunch in aid of the High Sheriff of Somerset and the Katie & Eloise Memorial Trust will go ahead as planned, with plenty of excitement still taking place in the Paddock Pavilion at Wincanton. While we can’t bring racing to the Wincanton turf, we can bring the racing to you, with live racing from Aintree being beamed into the Pavilion throughout the afternoon. We will have a bookmaker on hand for those who would like to get involved, while Alice and a team of racing experts, including retired jockey Daryl Jacobs, will be on hand to explain the action, share their expertise and keep the atmosphere lively. The racing from Aintree will be of a very high standard, so although it won’t be taking place on local turf, there will still be plenty to watch and enjoy.
There will also be plenty of entertainment throughout the afternoon, including two circus performances, specialised children’s entertainment and table magic. In between the performances, guests will have the opportunity to learn some circus techniques and even have a go at some magic tricks themselves. Alongside the live racing and entertainment, the charity auction will provide another highlight to the afternoon.
While we are naturally disappointed not to be racing at Wincanton, we are looking forward to welcoming you for an afternoon of great food, live racing, entertainment and fundraising, all while supporting two fantastic local causes. We hope you’ll join us and help us make the most of the day.
