The Henry Cecil Open Weekend is looking forward to welcoming visitors to British horseracing’s headquarters on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026.
A unique opportunity to delve behind the scenes at Britain’s best-known racing yards and meet the stars of British horseracing, the Henry Cecil Open Weekend is a fantastic day out for all the family. The Open Weekend coincides with racing on Saturday at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse. With many of the town’s racing yards open to the public on Sunday morning, an afternoon of events follows including a Shetland Pony Grand National, racing personality Show Jumping, parade of retired racehorses and fun dog show.
Tickets purchased provides access of both days across the Open Weekend.
Please note, Henry Cecil Open Weekend ticket does not grant access to Newmarket Racecourse. Tickets for Newmarket Races are available to purchase here.
What to expect!
DAY ONE
Saturday 19th September 2026
Access and tours to some of Newmarket’s finest equine establishments are available on Saturday 19th September including The National Stud, Newmarket Equine Hospital (NEH), Godolphin Rehoming, Injured Jockeys Fund Peter O’Sullevan House, British Racing School, National Horseracing Museum and Jockey Club Rooms.

Racing at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse also takes place on Saturday 19th September featuring the Cesarewitch Trial. This meeting forms part of Autumn Racing at Newmarket Racecourse when Newmarket truly becomes the hub for global flat racing.
DAY TWO
Sunday 20th September 2026
An action-packed Sunday starts on Warren Hill, sponsored by Tattersalls, when you can see some of the equine stars in action between 8am-8:45am, followed by a talk at Tattersalls at 11:30am.
Some of British Horseracing’s most well-known racing yards are then open for exclusive behind the scenes access from 9am-12:30pm. The full list of yards opening in 2026 can be found on The Henry Cecil Open Weekend website: Henry Cecil Open Weekend Trainers 2026.
Please note that yards are only open on Sunday morning, 9am-12:30pm.
