HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCESS ROYAL VISITS NEWMARKET’S JULY COURSE

Article 8th July 2021 Newmarket

Newmarket’s July Course hosted Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal this afternoon, Thursday 8th July, on the first day of the Moët & Chandon July Festival.

The Princess Royal met organisations and charities based in the region from across racing and the wider equine sectors, to thank them for their tireless work during the pandemic caring for thousands of horses and those who work with them.

This included charities from British racing such as Racing Welfare and The Injured Jockeys Fund as well as those who work across the entire horse population such as The Riding for the Disabled Association, World Horse Welfare, The Suffolk Horse Society and The British Equine Veterinary Association.

The Princess Royal also presented the prize to the connections of Lusail, winner of the Group Two Tattersalls July Stakes.

William Wyatt, Chair of Newmarket Racecourses, said: “It was a great privilege to welcome The Princess Royal to the July Course this afternoon at what is the course’s marquee Flat fixture.

“The team at Newmarket Racecourses were equally thrilled to host a wide variety of equine organisations who have ensured horses, and those who care for them, have continued to be properly looked after during the pandemic.

“We were treated to a typically high class display of Flat racing and we look forward to two more days of high quality sport as we build towards the Darley July Cup on Saturday.”
