What is Racing Staff Week?

Press Release 2nd July 2018 Newmarket

Look around you. You will see lots of people who work together to bring your day at the races to life. Whether that is leading up the horses and preparing them to race, to tending to racecourse itself.

Now in its third year, Racing Staff Week aims to bring the racing industry together to highlight the passion, skill and dedication required to work with racehorses on a daily basis.

Behind each horse that makes it to the track, there is a huge team of people that has made it possible. This week we celebrate the roles of the stud, stable and racecourse staff who make racing happen.

From getting up early to attend to the mares and foals to the lads and lasses who ride out in the morning before taking their charges racing in the afternoon. From the handlers who lead the horses into the starting stalls to the staff that run the racecourse stables, they all play their part.

This is our chance to say thank you.

Jockey Club Racecourses are saying thank you by providing free meals for all racing staff accompanying runners at the 348 racing fixtures it stages nationwide from Racing Staff Week onwards.
