THE CRAFT IRISH WHISKEY CO. TO SPONSOR AWARDS FOR LEADING OWNER, TRAINER AND JOCKEY AT THE FESTIVAL PLUS THE PRESTBURY CUP

Press Release 10th March 2023 Cheltenham

Luxury drinks brand The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. is the new sponsor of the awards for Leading Trainer, Jockey and Owner plus the Prestbury Cup at The Cheltenham Festival (Tuesday 14th March to Friday 17th March inclusive).

The sponsorships cement the partnership between The Jockey Club and The Craft Irish Whiskey Co., with the company having first sponsored at The Home of Jump Racing when backing the Festival Plate Handicap Chase at The Festival in 2022.

Ireland’s Willie Mullins is the most successful trainer of all-time at The Festival with 88 wins and has taken the award for leading trainer on nine occasions including for each of the past four years. The award for leading jockey went to Rachael Blackmore in 2021 and Paul Townend last year.

The award for Leading Owner was introduced in 2017 and has seen two wins each for JP McManus, Gigginstown House Stud and Cheveley Park Stud.

The Prestbury Cup celebrates the famous Anglo-Irish rivalry at The Festival and is awarded to either Ireland or Great Britain based on where each of the 28 winners at The Festival are trained. Introduced in 2014, the score currently stands at seven wins for Ireland seven and two for Great Britain with one draw.

Jay Bradley, Founder and CEO, The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. said “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be returning to The Home of Jump Racing this year with our sponsorship of The Prestbury Cup. I

“It’s an honour to bring our rare Irish single malts to this incredible racecourse and allow whiskey fans the opportunity to add an extra touch of luxury to their racing experience.

“I’ll be at The Festival and while I’ll be cheering on all the jockeys, I think you can guess which side I’ll be rooting for in The Prestbury Cup!”

Jack Royle, Head of Partnerships for The Jockey Club, added:

“We are delighted to take our partnership with The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. to another level.

“It is great to have a sponsor committed to supporting all of the awards at The Festival and I would like to extend our thanks to Jay and all the team at The Craft Irish Whiskey Co.”
