Super heroes plus horses equal the best free day our for children this Easter

Press Release 28th March 2019 Exeter

Super Hero Family Day at Exeter Racecourse on Tuesday, April 16 promises to be one of the best free days out for children this Easter Holiday with a programme packed full of free activities, not to mention super horse racing to enjoy.

Whether its Wonderwoman, Superman, Captain America, or a made up hero who might go by the name of Devonman, Bodonog or Piffle, children are encouraged to dress up and enjoy a fun day out on Haldon Hill.

With capes flying, masks masquerading and super human powers to charge them through the day, there will be a chance for our younger generation of racegoers to meet other defenders of the universe.

These warriors of our galaxy can take part in running races on the actual racecourse, have their faces painted and test their climbing skills on the high ropes course.

For those wanting to learn more about the sport of horse racing, there’s a behind the scenes tour, and question and answer session with the sport’s very own heroes, the  jockeys, and a chance to grab their autographs too.

There are also on the spot prizes being offered throughout the day just for coming along and enjoying a day at the races.

Gates open at 12.05pm for this fiesta of heroes, heroines and horses, with the first race off at 2.05pm. Two adults tickets cost just £15 if pre-booked here.

Crowds are sure to be racing to Exeter for the final fixture of its season on Tuesday, May 7 – the Heavitree Brewery PLC Season Finale.

It’s an evening meeting when a party atmosphere is sure to pervade as the racecourse celebrates another spectacular season and the crowning of the 2019 Devon and Cornwall Intermediate Point-to-Point Champion.

That Exeter is regarded as a nurturing ground for future jump racing stars is no secret, with trainers supporting the track with its very best horses as they progress through the ranks.

This year has been no exception with two Cheltenham Festival winners both in the winners enclosure this season before their triumphs on the mighty stage of the Festival. On December 7, Defi Du Seuil beat Topofthegame in the Heavitree Brewery PLC Novices’ Chase.

The former went on and won the Grade One JLT Novices’ Chase while the latter was the winner of the Grade One RSA Insurance Novices’ Chas. It is wonderful for local enthusiasts that they are able to witness first hand the significant part Exeter plays in the shaping of our sport’s champions.

Racing returns to Exeter in October. Meanwhile the racecourse’s busy conference and events business is open everyday for meetings, events, roadshows and conferences.
