Newmarket's CAMBRIDGESHIRE MEETING
Our Cambridgeshire Meeting returns to the Rowley Mile, you can expect world-class racing action, including seven Group races across the three days.
Join us on the Rowley Mile for the prestigious Cambridgeshire Meeting, which offers up three days of world class racing.
Each of the days from Thursday to Saturday is jam-packed with top class contests, with the feature being the Cambridgeshire Handicap over nine furlongs on the Saturday. The race serves as the first leg of the traditional ‘autumn double’ which is completed by the following month’s Cesarewitch Handicap.
With a maximum field of 30 runners, the Cambridgeshire is one of the hottest races of the season and the winner often goes on to compete in Group company, as demonstrated by Lord North (2019) and Wissahickon (2018) in recent years.
All three days feature Group races and Saturday’s action includes two top juvenile contests in the form of the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes and the Group One Middle Park Stakes. Both have proven track records of producing future stars and it can pay to keep an eye on the winners of both races with next year’s Classics in mind.
The Friday of the meeting features two Group Two races in the form of the Rockfel Stakes and the Joel Stakes. Some top milers have won the latter in recent years, including the QIPCO 2000 Guineas hero Kameko in 2020, while the Rockfel Stakes is for two year old fillies over seven furlongs and regularly produces a smart performer for the future.
Meanwhile, Thursday’s action includes the Group Three Tattersalls Stakes for the juveniles, again over seven furlongs, ensuring that the Cambridgeshire Meeting is gets off to a flier.
