CAMBRIDGESHIRE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCED AS OFFICIAL CHARITY PARTNER OF THE DEBENHAMS JULY FESTIVAL

Article 22nd May 2025 Newmarket

Newmarket Racecourses is pleased to announce today that the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation will be the Official Charity Partner of this year’s Debenhams July Festival (Thursday 10th July to Saturday 12th July inclusive).

Cambridgeshire Community Foundation is the charity for Cambridgeshire, working towards a better quality of life for people across the county. The Foundation identifies the most critical needs of local communities, raises funds and awards grants to non-profit organisations that make a big impact in addressing those needs.

Since being founded in 2004, the Foundation has awarded over £39 million to local charity and community projects through over 10,000 grants. Every single ward in the county has benefitted from the funding. Unfortunately, the charity is currently seeing unprecedented demand for funding that exceeds its capacity to support. It shows just how much work remains to create lasting, positive change in the community, and support is needed more than ever.

The Hon Frances Stanley DL, High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, commented: “I am delighted to see this inspiring collaboration between Newmarket Racecourses and the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.

“It reflects the deep ties between the racing industry which is rooted in both Cambridgeshire and Suffolk and our local communities. Newmarket is just 15 miles from Cambridge, and the Debenhams July Festival offers not only world-class racing, but a fantastic day out for families and visitors of all ages.

“This partnership celebrates everything that makes our region special: heritage, generosity, and a shared commitment to improving lives.”

Michael O’Toole, CEO of the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, said: “We are really grateful to be the Debenhams July Festival’s chosen charity this year.

“The funds raised will help us continue to support small, grassroots initiatives that are making a real difference in our community but may otherwise struggle to find funding.

“We support a range of causes, from mental health and homelessness to social isolation and environmental conservation. Thank you to Newmarket Racecourses for helping us build a fairer, safer and more vibrant Cambridgeshire.”

Sophie Able, Newmarket Racecourses & International Director at The Jockey Club, added: “It is fantastic that the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation will be our Official Charity Partner at the Debenhams July Festival in 2025.

“The three-day Debenhams July Festival is our summer highlight here at Newmarket and offers a brilliant opportunity to showcase the Foundation’s outstanding work in the community throughout the county of Cambridgeshire.

“I am very pleased to say that a number of staff from Newmarket Racecourses will be working on volunteer days with the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation in the build-up to the Debenhams July Festival and the onwards throughout the year.”
